Decommissioning and maintenance of pharmaceutical water systems

When holidays or off-season, the equipment needs to be shut down for a long time or run for a short time. Effective maintenance can not only alleviate microbial growth when the pharmaceutical water equipment is out of service, but also avoid damage during the time the plant is out of service. The following Xiaobian will share with you some small knowledge points of the shutdown and maintenance of the pharmaceutical water system to help you get a better experience.

1. Shutdown protection for pretreatment

Short-term outage (7-30 days): The equipment is maintained in an interval operation mode. Turn on the automatic water production mode every 3-5 days and run for 30-60 minutes. When it is re-run, it is necessary to pre-treat the front and back cleaning and pasteurization.

Long-term outage (30-180 days): The equipment is maintained by emptying. The multi-media filter and activated carbon filter need to be cleaned with positive and negative washing. In order to avoid dehydration damage and microbial growth during the shutdown of the softening resin, saturated brine should be soaked after regeneration. After completion, close the inlet and outlet valves of each filter. Then drain the water in the raw water tank, drain the water in the pretreatment pipeline, purge the pipeline with clean compressed air until there is no residual water, and close all the inlet and outlet valves after connecting the pipeline.

Long-term downtime of more than 180 days: The filter material in each filter should be emptied and the filter cleaned.

2. Shutdown protection of reverse osmosis system

Short-term outage (7-30 days): The equipment is maintained in an interval operation mode. Turn on the automatic water production mode every 3-5 days and run for 30-60 minutes. Re-start with a low-pressure rinse for 1-2 hours.

Long-term shutdown (30-180 days): use the CIP device to chemically clean the reverse osmosis system, then inject 1% sodium bisulfite solution into the system and close the system, rinse and replace the protective solution every 30 days below 27 °C, once every 15 days above 27 °C, when the system is started again, drain the gas in the system, and carry out low-pressure flushing when the water pressure is 50% lower than the normal feed water pressure.

Long-term downtime of more than 180 days: The reverse osmosis membrane should be removed from the system and stored separately in 1% sodium bisulfite solution. The reverse osmosis system uses reverse osmosis permeate water to clean the inside of the membrane shell. Drain the water in the pipeline of the reverse osmosis system, purge the pipeline with clean compressed air until there is no residual water, and close all inlet and outlet valves after connection.
