Thermal manikins can be used to provide quantitative results on the thermal comfort properties of assemblies in terms of thermal insulation, heat loss and evaporative resistance (Nayak, Punj, Chatterjee and Behera, 2009). Manikins can also be field tested to represent more realistic conditions when evaluating performance and comfort.
Thermal dummies are designed to simulate the human thermoregulation system and predict driver and passenger comfort and thermal performance in a vehicle. The standard manikins available on the market are: NEWTON perspiration thermal manikin with physiological software PC manikin to assess clothing and the environment.
The results of the correlation coefficients of three materials showed that they all showed a strongly increasing trend between the Permetst and the breathable thermal dummy. From the regression analysis, the P value of the three materials was that P < 0.05 and 100% cotton R2 = 0.83, 50% cotton, 50% polyester R2 = 0.91, 100% polyester. (More) Links
